I’m Rubie

I'm an illustrator working from my little desk studio in Lutruwita, Tasmania.

I work with ink and watercolour (my great love) and am also expanding my work illustrating and designing digitally.

I’m inspired by families, children playing, everyday magic and the beautiful nature around us, especially here on this beautiful island.

I'm a mum, flower lover and wheelchair rugby player.

I live just outside of Hobart with my husband and toddler, our dog, chicken and ducks. We also have bees and host a daily Morning conventicle for the local magpies on our lawn.

I’ve been painting since I got a little watercolour set for my seventh birthday and have been working as an illustrator since my career path changed in 2019 after I had an accident that left me a quadriplegic.

I now get to spend my days creating and painting inspired by the every day magic of watching children grow up and the beautiful nature around us.
